Dependent on experience - £23,000 to £27,000

Overview

Come and join our team as we seek to see young people reach their full potential, and to be a light against; social isolation, poor mental health, violence, addiction, poverty, abuse and more, whilst working to see the development of personal, social and spiritual wellbeing, resilience and fullness of life in all who we encounter.

In this role, you will work alongside the Youth & Community Pastor, engaging local young people (inc. families) into the Youth Work of DRCC Youth, working to create and run positive, diverse and effective programmes of personal development and faith exploration.

Duties and responsibilities

• Be actively involved in the development and delivery of youth work provision(s) that are in line with the needs of young people, which will provide opportunities to increase their confidence, skills, resilience, and aspirations.

• Build relationships with ‘hard to reach’ and disadvantaged young people.

• Provide information and advice to young people to aid them in making informed choices, enabling a positive transition through adolescence into adulthood.

• To lead and support volunteers as well as be involved in training.

• Liaise and network with various partners, agencies, and community groups, including churches, schools, voluntary sector groups, and district and town councils, to enhance the provisions/engagements being developed.

• Work within all Doddinghurst Road Community Church’s policies and procedures, e.g. health and safety, safeguarding.

• Participate in the spiritual life of DRCC Youth through active involvement in prayer meetings, theological reflection of projects and the spiritual development activities of young people. This does not mean that the applicant must be attending DRCC; however, it is a genuine occupational requirement that the applicant is a Christian active in their faith.

Experience & Skills

Essential

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with young people in a Youth Work context.

• A genuine love of young people and an enthusiasm and desire to see young lives transformed.

• Be physically fit and able to engage in Youth Work activity.

• Ability to creatively lead sessions and activities.

• A good attitude toward working proactively and managing own time.

• Able to cope with listening to difficult life situations and respond appropriately.

• Knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding children and young people policy and procedures. *(Further training on this will be provided.)

• Access to a private vehicle for work use, with a full and clean licence.

• Successful Enhanced DBS check. (To be completed on an offer of the role.)

Desirable

• A professional qualification in youth and community work. (JNC) We will also welcome applications from those with other relevant qualifications or those with youth work experience and willingness to work towards a funded Level 2/3 JNC.

• Training or knowledge around specific issues affecting young people, e.g. relationships and sexual health. (Further training on this will be provided.)
